It all started about a year ago….
…first, Liz Guthrie put together the “Dream Team” of vendors.
Then the contest opened up and we were flooded with entries.
Then the Dream Team narrowed it down to 5 finalists.
Then the public voted for their favorite.
Then the winning couple was chosen.
Then, on Friday, May 14th 2010… we had ourselves a WEDDING!
You can read about the winning couple and their beautiful love story here:
Vanessa flew in to San Francisco from Virginia on Monday and from the time she got to our fair city she was on the go. Meetings, fittings, picking things up, dropping things off, trips to the airport, etc, etc.
She did it all with a big smile and endless energy, I was impressed!
I was able to get a piece of her time on Tuesday to do a walk through of her ceremony and reception areas at Hotel Vitale with my fellow wedding coordinator and designer, Kathryn Kalabokes of Dream A Little Dream Events.
On Thursday we had the rehearsal (smooth sailing, of course!) at Hotel Vitale followed by the rehearsal dinner at 1 Fort Mason.
The day of the wedding started out early with the brides room bustling with activity. There were hair and makeup people, the photographer, the videographer, bridesmaids, family and of course me, all fussing over Vanessa.
Once Vanessa and Mike were dressed and ready, we started with a photo shoot at various landmarks in the city. Talk about paparazzi, we had 2 photographers from Lilia Photography, 2 videographers from Studio MSV, and a writer, broadcaster and photographer from Air Force Magazine. I was just trying to keep an eye on Vanessa and Mike while staying out of everyone’s shot…no easy feat!
The ceremony was on the 5th floor Terrace and was touching and so, so sweet. The yellow and platinum colors were perfect for this urban setting
The cocktail hour was on the 7th and 8th floor terraces. Passed hors d’ouvres and Mondavi wine were served.
When the reception started, it was a PARTY! The couple was announced in and started the party with their first dance to ‘Glory of Love’ by Peter Cetera.
After some touching toasts and a tasty dinner ( filet mignon, yum!) The Misa Malone Project got the dance floor full with incredible vocals. Whew! You have to hear Misa sing!
The cake was cut, the garter and bouquet were tossed and it was time for DJ EL of Spintronix, to begin and switch into “club” mode. Besides great music to dance to, there was a photo booth by The Laugh Box and caricature artist by Jeanette Madden for the guests to enjoy.
You would think with 40 plus vendors that it would be just INSANE and hard to coordinate, but I am happy to say that everything was on time all day with no major disasters on the wedding day at all! (That I know of anyway) The “Dream Team” pulled through and I couldn’t have asked for a better team. Not only was the entire team professional, but they all had huge smiles on their faces and I sensed they felt as honored as I did to be a part of something so wonderful. Below are just a handful of the group of wedding professionals that I had the pleasure to work with.
Although this wedding has been over a year in the works and I am a bit sad that it is over, Vanessa and Mike’s new life together is just starting and I feel joy in knowing they had a fantastic dream wedding!
Congratulations Vanessa and Mike! Love ya!
